DILG holds 2-day training for new contract tracers

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Region 1 recently conducted orientation for seven batches of newly-hired contact tracers.

This two-day training was for the second and third batch of contact tracers.

District 2 residents from Aguilar, Binmaley, Bugallon, Labrador, Lingayen and Mangatarem were trained at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC) II.

DILG Regional Director James Fadrilan, who led the orientation via Zoom, underscored the importance of the two-day mandatory training aimed at equipping the new hires with basic skills and competencies in contact tracing process before deployment.

Over 1,095 contact tracers were hired in Region 1 and 809 are Pangasinenses.

Topics tackled during the training are: Overview of National Health Emergency Strategic Response; Situating Contact Tracing to Public Health Safety; What is COVID-19; Infectious Period and Diagnosing COVID-19; Calculating Infectious Period; Steps in Contact Tracing: Contact Tracing Technology and Data Management and Confidentiality and Ethics of Contract Tracing; and Personal Protective Equipment.

Among the responsibilities of contact tracers are: conducting interviews, profiling, and performing an initial public health risk assessment of COVID-19 cases and their identified close contacts; referring the close contacts to isolation facilities; and conducting enhanced contact tracing, said Provincial Dir. Lalata.

This two-day training concluded on October 15.
