PANGASINAN’S NEWEST ATTRACTION

AS the country eases up guidelines to restore tourism activities, the Baywalk project in Tondaligan Beach in Dagupan City, the latest new major attraction in Pangasinan, was inaugurated yesterday.

Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia and Mayor Brian Lim led the inauguration of the first phase of the project.

“We have a saying, “Build and they will come”,” said De Venecia, brainchild of the project.

The Baywalk project has two more phases to go and it spans to Bonuan Binloc up to Barangay Bolasi in San Fabian whose construction is ongoing.

De Venecia said people need places to go to where the community can come together like for biking, get-together, physical exercise, to enjoy Mother Nature, among others.

He expressed satisfaction over the design that serves both pedestrians and bicycles while planters separate them for safety.

“We are expecting it to be one of the crown jewels of our tourism here in Dagupan,” he said.  “This is something that all Dagupeños and people from San Fabian can bet truly be proud of,” De Venecia added.

The baywalk has park benches, ramps for access for PWDs and jetski. The next phase he said will allow for more features and attractions.

He said the project was granted through the Department of Public Works and Highways-Department of Tourism convergence.

DPWH District Engr. Edita Manuel said the 13-meter wide baywalk was designed to allocate 5.4 meters wide for pedestrians and 2.5 meters for bikers’ lane plus planters.

Lim thanked de Venecia for putting up the Tondaligan Baywalk and pledged to share in the responsibility to make Tondaligan Park by renovating the amphitheater and relocating the statue of Gen. Douglas MacArthur from private lot to the Tondaligan Park area. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
