TO AVERT SURGE IN COVID CASES

NEW guidelines for stricter border control at checkpoints were ordered by Gov. Amado Espino III on September 16 in the wake of the reported single day spike in COVID-19 cases in the province.

This was confirmed by Provincial Police Director Redrico Maranan after an emergency meeting was called by Gov. Espino to assess the unexpected single day spike in cases on September 15.

He said the implementation of stricter guidelines was among the new interventions agreed during the meeting.

Maranan cited the need for additional proofs to be shown by authorized persons outside their residence (APOR) to support their movements in and around the province.

He said border checkpoints will again require quarantine passes and certificates of employment to prove that their claimed travel to the province is essential.

Then, stricter monitoring of movements and enforcement of the established health protocol will also be applied in barangays, towns and cities that recorded new cases.

He urged the barangay captains and barangay enforcement teams, as frontliners, to strictly enforce the health protocol defined by the Inter-Agency Task Force and authorized them to establish barangay checkpoints if necessary, to improve their control of the situation in their communities.
