THE Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) headquarters in San Fernando City, La Union is under second indefinite lockdown after five police personnel tested positive for COVID-19.

P/Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr, PRO1 director, said the lockdown was made effective September 1 until the results of the 40 policemen who were also tested for being in close contact with the five afflicted are released.

Azurin said his RT-PCR test confirmed he was negative.

Three of the five COVID-19 positive police personnel are presently in isolation in different quarantine facilities in their hometowns, while one is at the Philippine National Police quarantine facility and the other one is at a hospital.

Among the five confirmed cases, four are asymptomatic and one is symptomatic with mild cough and colds but is already managed by the hospital concerned.

It may be recalled that the PRO1 regional headquarters was already placed on lockdown on July 30 after three police applicants were tested positive for COVID-19. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
