PANGASINAN, under the leadership of Governor Amado Espino III, bagged its fifth Rice Achievers Award from the Department of Agriculture last September 16.  It also won the award in 2013, 2014 and 2016.

This was disclosed by Dr. Roger Evangelista, center director of the Agriculture Training Institute-Regional Training Center of the Department of Agriculture in Sta, Barbara town.

Evangelista told the KBP Virtual Forum on September 17, that Pangasinan was one of the five provinces in the country and only the second in Region 1 that earned the coveted Rice Achievers Award for year 2019 under Category A.

Ilocos Norte is the other Region 1 province that also won the Rice Achievers Award.
As recipient of another Rice Achievers Award, Pangasinan will receive P4 million incentive to be used for projects related to rice production, according to Evangelista.

He said the other Rice Achievers Awardees in the municipal and city levels, including outstanding agricultural workers are still being evaluated and will be announced later.

Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya said the latest award is testament to the continuing strides of the provincial government under Gov. Espino in the field of rice production.

“This award inspires us to work some more to improve our service to the people especially the farming sector,” Moya said. (Leonardo Micua)
