FOUR barangays and one purok were ordered to be placed under granular lockdown by Mayor Cezar Quiambao due to a rise in COVID-19 cases and deaths in the town.

Quiambao issued Executive Order No. 45 series of 2020, placing Barangays Cadre Site, Darawey, Tambac, Bical Norte, and Purok 3 of Barangay Ambayat 1st on September 12 until September 26 on lockdown.

Residents in the four barangays and purok have been ordered to stay in their homes and can only leave for medical emergencies. Only health workers and other frontliners are allowed to leave their homes.

Quiambao also ordered the lockdown of the Meat and Fish sections of the town’s public market until September 16.

This, after a fatality was recorded in the town.  A meat vendor, a resident of Barangay Darawey, died August 27. The latest patient was a close contact of the deceased.

As of September 9, Bayambang reported 18 confirmed cases: 6 are active, 9 have recovered, and 3 fatalities.

To address the threat, Quiambao also ordered a total liquor ban in the town until further notice after the Bayambang COVID-19 IATF found out that a COVID-19 positive patient exposed more people after attending a gathering.

He also ordered the closure of public and private cemeteries starting October 30 until November 3. (Ahikam Pasion/Phistar News Service/EVC)
