AN honest tricycle driver who returned the cash left inside his vehicle by his passenger was honored by the municipal council on Sept. 21 during  the Monday flag raising ceremony in Bayambang.

Sammy dela Cruz of Barangay Zone V returned a bag left by his passenger, Emmanuel Macaranas, sometime on Sept. 11.

Dela Cruz said he immediately reported the matter to authorities as soon as he found the bag containing P60,000 on the passenger seat of his tricycle.

The municipal government gave him a plaque of commendation signed by Mayor Cezar Quiambao with P5,000 cash incentive and another P5,000 cash from Vice Mayor Raul Sabangan.

Macaranas said the amount will be used for their house repair. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
