17 towns were COVID-free last week

THERE are still 17 towns in Pangasinan, comprising 35 percent of the 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan, that are still considered free of COVID-19.

So far, the 17 towns have not reported a single infected resident as of September 18, Friday according to the COVID-19 tracker of the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

The LGUs without any active case now are Agno, Aguilar, Alcala, Anda, Balungao, Bani, Bautista, Burgos, Dasol, Infanta, Mabini, Manaoag, San Jacinto, San Manuel, Sison, Sto. Tomas, Umingan, Urbiztondo and Villasis.

Dasol remains the only town in Pangasinan that has not registered any COVID-19 cases since the contagion started in the middle of March this year.

On the other hand, 31 more towns/cities or 65 percent of the province’s LGUs, account for the 196 current active COVID-19 cases now confined in various hospitals and LGU isolation centers.

Topping in the number of active coronavirus disease patients as of September 18 was Dagupan City with 64 while Bayambang recorded 16 cases.

As of that day (Sept. 18), the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the contagion, now reached 550, the number of patients who recovered is now at 431. The number of deaths is l at 23. (Leonardo Micua)
