THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) recorded 161 rape cases from March to August this year while the province was under strict implementation of the community quarantine.

PPPO Women and Children Protection Desk Chief Capt. Jairilyn Camangian said the 161 cases were from violation on women (21) while violation on children (140) and believes the actual number is greater because many cases are still unreported.

She called on relatives of victims to report the violations committed against member of their families and to file the cases against abusive relatives, friends and strangers.

PPPO recorded 197 rape cases in the province during the same period last year. (Jerick Pasiliao)
