THE Mapandan municipal government confirmed on August 27 that COVID-19 finally claimed its first patient in the town.

Mayor Anthony Penuliar said the first patient, a female resident of Barangay Amanoaoac, has been experiencing flu-like symptoms of the virus and tested positive when she took the reverse transcription test.

She is now under the strict home quarantine while being taken care of by the local health authorities.

Barangay Amanoaoac where the patient resides, was ordered locked down to conduct contact tracing of possible close contacts of the patient in the area.

Persons who will be identified will be scheduled for RT-PCR testing to determine if they have also acquired the virus.
