THE beleaguered Department of Education (DepEd) Pangasinan 1 Schools Division Superintendent vehemently denied all the allegations of corruption raised against her by her subordinates and a number of the provincial Board members.

At a recent press conference, Superintendent Dr. Shiela Marie Primicias debunked all the issues made public against her since she was designated officer-in-charge of the schools division on September 2019.

Among the issues she readily rebutted were the reported mandatory purchase of flash drive by teachers from her office, forced selling of tumblers, forced organization of a teacher’s cooperative and the use of Quipper for the online-modular instruction amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“The proceeds from the sale of tumblers were supposed to given as cash incentives to the medalists of the cancelled Region 1 Athletic Association Meet (R1AA) last February and that was approved by the Parents-Teachers Association.” she said.

She maintained that as superintendent, all programs she’s implementing in the division are all in accordance with the existing law and memorandums of the DepEd and that she was committed to make a difference by making public schools competitive.

“I never pocketed any amount of money,” she intoned.

Primicias admitted she has been receiving letters and complaints from anonymous persons since the allegations were made public, contrary to claims, she has not received a copy of formal complaint from the Ombudsman. “

She claims her detractors have resorted to trial by publicity.

Last week, the provincial board adopted a resolution addressed to the Secretary of Education seeking the transfer of Primicias to other schools division outside the province because of the series of allegations of graft and corruption.

She said DepEd has already formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the allegations. (Jerick Pasiliao)
