COVID-19 resurges, 55 new cases vs. 19 recoveries

COVID-19 made its biggest surge in Pangasinan last week with 55 cases admitted in different hospitals and the death of one person, against only 19 patients that recovered, according to the daily update by the Provincial Health Office from August 20 to 27.

Dasol continues to remain as the only town in Pangasinan that did not register any COVID-19 case since the contagion started in mid-March this year.

Considered COVID-19-free as of this writing are: Agno, Alcala, Anda, Asingan, Balungao, Bani, Basista, Binalonan, Bugallon, Burgos, Labrador, Mabini, Mangatarem, Mapandan, Rosales, San Carlos City, San Manuel, Sison, Sto. Tomas, Urbiztondo and Urdaneta City.

The lone fatality was a 90-year-old male from Aguilar who died August 26 after being confined last August 19. He was listed as the 14th COVID-19 fatality in Pangasinan. His death came 10 days after a 42-year-old female from San Fabian died on August 16.

As of 6 p.m. on August 27, active COVID-19 cases rose sharply to 69, all of whom are presently confined in isolation in different hospitals. The number almost doubled the 36 active cases registered in the province as of August 19.

On the other hand, with 19 persons recovering from the disease last week, the number of patients that have already recovered jumped to 289 . Total confirmed cases in Pangasinan now reached 372, with 331 registered in the province and 41 in Dagupan.

The biggest single day surge of new cases was registered on August 26 when 12 new confirmed cases were listed. These are from Lingayen (4), Dagupan (2), San Nicolas (2), Malasiqui (2), San Quintin (1) and Natividad (1).

Sual still registered the biggest number of new cases on August 27 at seven after a week of no COVID-19 case with Sta. Barbara (2) and Bolinao (1) and Binmaley (1).

The other active cases are in Dagupan (6),Malasiqui (6), Mangaldan (4),Calasiao (5), Bayambang (5),Aguilar (5), Lingayen (4), Bolinao (3), San Nicolas (3), and San Fabian, Manaoag, San Fabian Pozorrubio, San  Quintin, Sta. Maria, Umingan, Villasis, Laoac and Mapandan, (1 each).

The latest patients to recover from the disease on August 26 are a 66-year-old male from Sta. Barbara, 25-year-old female from Mangaldan, 42-year-old male from Urbiztondo, 56-year-old male and 22-year-old male from Malasiqui, 46-year-old male from Bolinao and 73-year-old male from Rosales.
