Cop, kid survive ambush in Calasiao

A policeman and his son in Calasiao town survived an ambush unscathed last Monday, August 3.

According to P/Lt. Colonel Joseph Fajardo, Calasiao police chief, P/Staff Sergeant Raul Cayabyab, currently assigned at the Urdaneta City PNP, and his son, were inside an SUV in a highway along Barangay Nalsian, when a gray Toyota Innova was stalking them.

Cayabyab and his son were about to go to lunch when an unidentified male, wearing a facemask alighted from the Innova, and fired shots against the father-son duo.

Both were unharmed, as Cayabyab immediately drove his vehicle to the Calasiao Police Station, about a kilometer away, while the gunman fled.

The authorities recovered 10 fired cartridges from a 9mm. pistol.Police are currently looking deeper into the incident; however, Fajardo believes that he was the target and connected to his job as a policeman, business, or personal life. (Ahikam Pasion)
