THE Sangguniang Panlungsod will call for an extensive investigation into the alleged sale of double-dead fish in the Magsaysay Fish Market in Dagupan.

Councilor Teresa Coquia, chairman on the committee on market, said her committee was alerted of the practice of unscrupulous persons selling so-called double dead fishes in the Magsaysay Market.

Double dead fishes are those that died in the fishponds, fish cages, and pens due to natural and environmental factors and are sold in the market to unsuspecting buyers as Dagupan-certified fish products.

Coquia said this pernicious practice not only poses hazard to the health of the consuming public but also destroys the marketability of the Dagupan bangus if not properly addressed.

To protect the public from the nefarious activities of the fish dealers, Coquia said, an exhaustive investigation of the reported selling of “double dead fishes” in the market is urgent. (Leonardo Micua)
