THE letter-request of transport leaders in Dagupan to the city government for endorsement to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to issue special permits for 75 additional jeepneys to service Dagupan remains unacted upon  by the Public and Order and Safety Office (POSO).

Bernard Tuliao, president of the Alliance of Transport Organization Provincewide (AUTOPRO), who said he failed to meet with Mayor Brian Lim at the hall to discuss the appeal, Maximo Alexis Tan, a special assistant to Mayor Lim, reportedly told him that Mayor Lim had agreed to endorse the request of the transport leaders and referred the matter to Rob Erfe-Mejia, chief of the POSO for action.

However, Tuliao, in an interview with The PUNCH, lamented that it’s been a week and no such endorsement was forwarded to his group.

In his letter to Lim last July 9, Tuliao sought endorsement of his group’s appeal to LTFRB, specifically to add 30 more jeepneys to service the Bonuan areas, 10 more for CSI Lucao route, 10 more for downtown Lucao loop, 10 more for Mangin, Salisay and Tebeng route and 15 more for the Calasiao-Dagupan route.

According to Tuliao, the move will enable more jeepney drivers to finally earn after more than four months of inactivity on account of the pandemic and also to ease the woes of the riding public who are forced to walk for long kilometers in order to reach their destinations.

He said they hope to meet Mayor Lim at City Hall to follow up on the group’s request for endorsement.
