THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Region 1 opened 17 additional Intra-provincial routes for 167 units of public utility jeepneys and buses last week, June 25.

Among the lines opened in Pangasinan are Alaminos to Infanta, Dagupan-Lingayen,
Dagupan-Urbiztondo via San Carlos City, Dagupan-Malasiqui, Dagupan-Sta. Barbara, -Rosaleds-Umingan, Lingayen-Sual via Socony.

The new routes opened are expected to ease the transportation woes of commuters in the province which remained under the classification of Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) until July 15.

LTFRB 1 enjoined all qualified operators to file their applications online and must  attach their scanned accomplished applications/requests, latest LTO OR/CR , personal passenger insurance, certificate of roadworthiness from the LTO and pictures of units that complied with the health standards of LTFRB.

All PUV operators must be part of  a Consolidated Cooperative or Corporation and must comply with the standards set by Department of Transportation and LTFRB.

These standards require drivers and conductors as well as the passengers to wear face mask and must set up a policy of ‘No Face Mask -No Ride.`

At the same time, drivers or conductors must collect fares before the passenger board their units while buses must be equipped with thermal scanners for checking temperature of passengers. (Leonardo Micua)
