A POLICEMAN was arrested after an entrapment operation Thursday morning in Barangay Pugaro, Bugallon.

The suspect, Police Master Sergeant Aurelio Bustillos Pine, is assigned at the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1).

He was arrested by joint teams of the Luzon Field Unit PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, and Balungao PNP.

The operation stemmed from a complaint of a Ricky Sanchez, a store owner.

Investigation showed  that Pine contacted Sanchez, saying that his name is included in the list of suspected gun-for-hire and illegal drugs groups.

He then demanded PHP 100,000 from the complainant in order to allegedly ‘process’ the removal of his name from the said list.

Sanchez quickly reported the matter to the local police, who immediately coordinated with their head units.

Once the money has been taken by the suspect, he was immediately arrested.

Two thousand pesos and a boodle money worth PHP 98,000 were confiscated from Pine, along with his Glock 17 service firearm, and his personal firearm, a caliber 45 pistol with an expired license.

The suspect is currently under IMEG custody. (Ahikam Pasion)
