BARANGAYS Maningding and Ventinilla in Sta. Barbara have been on lockdown since June 12 till 26 after a 29-year old male resident of Maningding, tested positive for COVID-19. He is the first case registered in the town.

Executive order (No. 44, series of 2020) issued by Mayor Joel de los Santos ordered the lockdown in the two barangays and the immediate tracing and testing of patient’s contacts.

The 29-year-old was identified as a technician of a radio station in Dagupan City.

He and the 45-year-old radio station’s driver from A.B. Fernandez Avenue West in Dagupan were two of the company’s employees who tested positive days after they took swab tests conducted by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) on June 8.

The 29-year-old is confined at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital while the 45-year old is at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan. Both are asymptomatic of the virus.

Under the mayor’s executive order, entry to and exit from the affected barangays are strictly prohibited “except for medical and humanitarian reasons to be determined by the Local Health Office.”

The Sta. Barbara police and the barangay councils of the two have been directed by the mayor to enforce the mandatory health protocols in the two affected barangays.

The implementation of social distancing and the wearing of face masks outdoors were likewise ordered.

Food is now being provided to the residents by leaving the provision in front of every home.  (Leonardo Micua)
