Third cop from San Carlos City tests positive

ANOTHER police officer from San Carlos City, already its third, tested positive of COVID-19.

The City Information Office said the 24-year old-policeman from Barangay Bacnar in San Carlos City, and assigned at the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office in Lingayen tested positive for COVID-19 on June 15 using a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test on frontliners.

Mandatory strict home quarantine has been ordered for the police officer’s family members and other persons listed in contact-tracing of health personnel.

The second case was a 29-year-old policeman from of Barangay Baldog is, assigned to the Sual town police station, is the city’s second confirmed Covid-19 case.

The city’s Information Office confirmed that the new case is a resident and had close contact with the first positive case, also a policeman, on May 25.

He was among those included by the Philippine National Police (in) the contact tracing with the close contact of the city’s first Covid-19 case  and he tested positive in his reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) swab testing done by the Sual government.

Patient 2 was immediately isolated and housed in a quarantine facility from June 2 to 11.

From the quarantine facility of Sual, he has since been transferred to the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital for treatment, though he remains asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, his family and other persons identified in contract-tracing were ordered to observe mandatory strict home quarantine and to take RT-PCR.

Investigation by health authorities showed that on May 26, Patient 2, who had close contact with the first positive case, returned to his station in Sual town for duty, went home on May 30, and reported back for work on June 1.
