TARGETED mass testing for front liners and high-risk workers by the Sual  government continues in earnest in Sual with the help of the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center in Manila.

Mayor Liseldo Caiugay underscored the importance of mass testing as it facilitates the speedy identification of cases and the treatment, and isolation of those found positive to prevent the spread of the disease.

Because of mass testing, four front liners of Sual were found COVID-19 positive, in addition to the first reported case in Barangay Cabalitian who already recovered from the virus.

To date, there are yet 273 individuals in Sual whose Reverse Transcription Polymerase -Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests are yet to be confirmed by CGHMC.

Another 603 others were already tested using the rapid slide test kits.

Calugay said among those already placed under Rapid Testing were returning Sual residents who took advantage of the “Balik Probinsya” program of the national government.

Following the prevailing Department of Health protocols, those tested positive under the rapid testing shall be subject to RT-PCR tests.

All specimens collected for confirmatory testing are then forwarded to the COVID-19 laboratory of CGHMC.

Sual is already operating an Infectious Disease Isolation Facility where positive cases and are asymptomatic are being treated.

Calugay said the resources of the municipality will always be used to strengthen healthcare and wellness infrastructure for the people of Sual.

Sual is a first-class municipality in the first district of Pangasinan. (Leonardo Micua)
