Sual opens isolation facility for Covid-19 patients

“TEST, TRACE, TREAT”

THE Sual government recently opened its Infectious Diseases Isolation Facility at the municipal wharf complex for 28 asymptomatic residents tested positive of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Dong Calugay said the facility, established in cooperation with Chinese General Hospital, is a component of the “Test, Trace and Treat” program of the municipal government not only for COVID-19 but also for other infectious diseases.

The municipal government also funded the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and rapid testing of frontliners, returning residents, Overseas Filipino Workers and others local laborers in essential services including market vendors and public transport drivers.

Calugay said municipal employees are next to be tested.

Those found positive through rapid testing will be made to take PCR test and results will be confirmed by the COVID-19 laboratory of Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center.

Meanwhile, TeaM Energy that operates the coal-fired power plant here, turned over to Calugay 1,250 rapid test kits in addition to previous donations of the relief goods for the residents here during this COVID-19 pandemic.

The Test, Trace and Treat Program is a three-phase approach: First, Targeted mass testing takes place at the local government; two, tracing of close contacts of persons found positive through PCR confirmatory test and testing of all the close contacts; third, treatment stage of asymptomatic positive cases will be confined at the Isolation Facility while symptomatic positive cases will  be referred to the Provincial Health Office.

Calugay lifted the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) status of Barangay Cabalitian effective June 3 after the latest test done on a COVID-19 positive resident of the town and his close contacts already tested negative. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
