SK offers free wi-fi to students

THE Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Umanday in Bugallon town is set to offer free wi-fi connection to students in their community through its “Study Konek” program.

SK chairperson Edren Llanillo said their chapter is providing students in their barangay free access to Internet for their online classes as part of the “new normal”.

She said the SK office will be open to students who have no Internet connection at home. “Actually, since the online enrollment began, some students have been   coming to our office asking to connect to enroll in their schools,” Llanillo said.

The students can download their study modules, conduct research and help them submit worksheets.

The SK office is powered with a 100 megabits per second (mpbs) Internet speed, that can accommodate several connections at a time. “But we have to limit usage to only 10 persons per batch to ensure that minimum health protocols, such as safe physical distancing, will be observed,” Llanillo said, adding that each student will have a maximum of two hours of Internet connection per day: from 10 a.m. to 12 noon; 1 pm to 3 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm.

Llanillo said the student should book an appointment through text message before the desired time, must wear a facemask and body temperature must be checked before entering the office. (Jerick Pasiliao)
