THE deadline for the payment of all local taxes, fees and charges authorized and imposed by the provincial government has been extended to June 25, 2020. And all penalties, surcharges will be waived as well.

These are provided in Executive Order No. 0033-2020 issued by Governor Amado Espino III on June 16 as added guidelines for the implementation of the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) in Pangasinan.

The EO directed that no interests, surcharges or any form of penalty, shall be applied on any local tax, fee, or charge accruing on or due and demandable during the period of extension.

Both Pangasinan and Dagupan were upgraded to MGCQ from General Community Quarantine from June 16 to 30.

The extension and waiver on penalties and surcharges are aimed at alleviating further the economic difficulties suffered by taxpayers in Pangasinan during the Enhanced Community Quarantine and General Community Quarantine periods.

Under the EO, the counting of the period within which to pay local taxes, fees and charges is likewise suspended.

At the same time, the EO also mandates that local tax delinquencies prior to the effectivity of R.A. No. 114689 shall remain due and demandable upon the expiration of the extended deadline.

Gov. Espino encouraged component LGUs (cities of San Carlos, Urdaneta and Alaminos) to adopt the same regulation. (Leonardo Micua)
