DAR distributes agri mechanisms to farmers

SIXTY agrarian reform beneficiaries from Umingan and sixteen ARBs from Asingan

Recently received some P1.3-million worth of assistance for agricultural productivity from the Department of Agrarian Reform.

DAR Sec. John Castriciones and Usec. Emily Padilla turned over the seeds, fertilizers, water pumps for irrigation and livelihood packages for Pangasinan farmers and cooperatives during their visit to Asingan town on June 10.

Castriciones said the assistance program “The PaSSOver: ARBOld Move to Heal as One Deliverance of ARBs from the Covid-19 Pandemic” (or ARBOld Move project) is intended to help achieve food security in the country particularly during the crisis brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Padilla assured the farmers that irrigation issues will no longer be a problem as two irrigators associations in San Quintin and Umingan received two water pumps each.

Castriciones also distributed certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) to ninety-four ARBs covering sixty-three hectares of agricultural lands in Asingan and San Quintin.

DAR Pangasinan Agrarian Reform Chief Anna Francisco said more than 3,000 farmers and residents in Pangasinan are set to benefit from the program.

Meanwhile, Mayor Carlos Lopez, Jr. of Asingan expressed his town’s gratitude to DAR for the productivity assistance extended to their farmers and to the town’s Bantog Samahang Nayon, the farmer’s group known for its quality carabao’s milk. (PIA/ VHS)
