TWENTY-three more locally stranded individuals (LSIs) were assisted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) to be able to cross over to Pangasinan on June 8 after being refused at the Rosales-San Manuel (Tarlac) border.

Like previous batches of stranded persons, the 29 Pangasinenses who traveled from Metro Manila were blocked by the border checkpoint after failing to present medical certificate from the municipal or city municipal health office of the point of origin and travel authority from the Philippine National Police (PNP) of their points of origin.

Most were misinformed by barangay officials in Metro Manila about the types of documents needed to be able to pass through checkpoints.

The stranded persons who completed 7 days or so at the border underwent RT-PCR swab test conducted by the Provincial Health Office on the same day before they were allowed to proceed to their destinations in the province.

These 23 stranded individuals that comprised the 5th batch assisted by the province’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office were from: Anda (1), Asingan (2), Bayambang (1), Bolinao (3), Burgos (1), Mangaldan (1), Natividad (3), San Manuel (1), San Quintin (2), Sta. Barbara (3), Umingan (1) and Villasis (1).

The first batch of 46 stranded individuals at Rosales-Tarlac border were assisted on May 7; the second batch of 59 went home on May 13; the third batch of 52 entered the province on May 26 and the fifth batch of 49 were assisted on May 31.

Also assisted were 20 stranded Pangasinenses at the Mangatarem-Tarlac border on May 8 and another batch of 19 on May 13.

Other stranded persons whose documents were still being processed receive 40 relief packs. (PIO/SMDG)
