Calasiao barangay kapitan free of COVID-19
THE residents of Calasiao heaved a sigh of relief on learning that the barangay chairman whose Rapid Test showed him symptomatic, finally tested negative of COVID-19.
Dr. Arturo Jesus de Vera, the municipal health officer, said the results of the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) test on his throat swab specimen confirmed this on June 2.
Consequently, the 23 other barangay captains and other persons who were ordered earlier to go on a 14-day home quarantine for being in that same room when the Rapid Test was done, were released from their quarantine.
Dr. De Vera said the RTK has only 40 percent accuracy, admitting that RTPCR is more conclusive. (Leonardo Micua/Philstar Wire Service/ECV)
