ONE of 14 members of a family in Barangay Nagpalangan in Binmaley is under isolation at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City after the patient tested positive for COVID-19 in a Rapid Test conducted on June 1.

Liga ng mga Barangay Councils president Jonas Rosario, barangay captain of Nagpalangan, revealed the rapid test on the family members had to be done after their kin, a 28-year old female resident of  the village, returned home from  Baguio on March 25 and returned to Baguio on May 29 to resume her work as store manager, tested positive of COVID-19.

Rosario said the result of the throat swab was taken on June 2 is still being awaited.

While the 13 other members of the patient’s family all tested negative in their Rapid Tests, they were still required to strictly observe a 14-day home quarantine and all their needs i.e., food, water and medicine are being provided by the barangay.

Rosario said the contact-tracing conducted by the Municipal Health Office determined that the only persons the patient had contacted were her family members.

It was learned that she and two co-workers were fetched by their employer and    stayed in a boarding house in La Union for three days for the processing of their travel pass for their travel to Baguio.

Upon arrival in Baguio on May 29, they proceeded to St. Vincent Gym, the triage and processing area for all arrivals in Baguio.

When her diagnostic X-ray showed she had pneumonia, she was made to undergo a swab test. On May 31, the Baguio City Health Office confirmed that she was positive for COVID-19.

On the same day, she was brought to the isolation facility of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center while awaiting confirmation of her condition. (Leonardo Micua)
