A frontliner from San Carlos City became the second COVID-19 positive case after he had close contact with a colleague in the police service who tested positive earlier and became the first confirmed case of the virus here.

The city government confirmed that a 29-year-old police officer from Barangay Baldog and assigned to Sual town, tested positive on June 11 through the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab testing done by the Sual government.

The second COVID patient had a close contact with the first COVID positive on May 25, 2020 with the 32-year-old policeman from Barangay Turac, San Carlos City and assigned in Dagupan City.

The two policemen are confined at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital.

San Carlos City Mayor Julier Resuello mobilized contact tracing teams to identify all individuals with close contact with the second COVID patient and ordered mandatory strict home quarantine for the family. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
