ALL the barangay chairmen of Calasiao town have been ordered quarantined for 14 days after one of them tested positive for COVID-19 in mass rapid testing of all village heads during a meeting called by the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) on May 28.

Mayor Joseph Arman Bauzon announced in his Facebook post that since one of them tested positive for COVID-19 in the rapid testing, everyone will have to be quarantined as well.

Bauzon did not identify the barangay captain who tested positive of the coronavirus.

He said he directed another rapid test for the barangay captain at the Rural Health Unit and the result was negative. But not totally convinced, he had the barangay official take the Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Test and his specimen is expected to be submitted to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for final confirmation.

Bauzon said while Dr. Jesus Arturo de Vera, municipal health officer, also certified that the barangay captain appeared asymptomatic of the virus, he is in isolation at the town’s quarantine facility under strict monitoring by local health personnel.

Bauzon said for the safety of all people of Calasiao, he has ordered all barangay captains who attended the meeting called by the MLGOO, including other persons whom they mingled to be placed under the 14-day quarantine.

He said the building where the meeting was held is being disinfected. (Leonardo Micua)
