THE third batch of Pangasinenses stranded at the Rosales-Tarlac border, were finally allowed to enter the province and proceed to their destinations after weeks of being denied entry for weeks.

PDRRMO Operations Head Patrick Aquino said stranded persons (LSIs) were earlier denied entry by the Philippine National Police (PNP), because they did not comply with the protocol and guidelines set by the Department of the Interior and Local Governance (DILG).

Informed of their plight, the provincial government has been working on the necessary documents to enable them to enter the province that included medical certificates and travel authority from PNP and were made to take swab tests by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) on May 26.

It also required the local governments of the stranded persons to arrange for their quarantine in their respective municipalities while waiting for the result of their swab test.

The Pangasinenses that returned home on May 27 were from Alcala (3), Asingan (9), Bayambang (1), Binmaley (4), Binalonan (1), Calasiao (1), Laoac (5), Manaoag (1), Malasiqui (2), Mangaldan (6), San Carlos (1), San Manuel (1), Sta. Maria (3), Sual (1), Tayug (7), Umingan (4), Urdaneta City (1) and Villasis (1).

One of the stranded persons Stanley Bilan said he rode a bicycle to travel to Pangasinan for four days and three nights from Quezon City.

There are still 70 stranded Pangasinenses at the Rosales-Tarlac border who need to take the swab tests before they can be allowed to return to their destinations.

The first batch of stranded persons were assisted on May 7 while another set of 59 Pangasinenses went home on May 13.

There were also 20 stranded Pangasinenses at the Mangatarem-Tarlac border assisted on May 8 and 19 more on May 13.

The efforts of the provincial government to rescue the stranded residents were directed by the Provincial Task Force on COVID-19. (PIO/SMDG)
