PPPO HQ ON LOCKDOWN

THE headquarters of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) in Lingayen was placed on lockdown on June 15 when two more policemen, one from Binmaley and the other from San Carlos City, both assigned at the PPPO tested positive for COVID-19 .

P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, police provincial director, confirmed he ordered the lockdown because there are already six policemen infected with COVID-19, most of whom are assigned at the PPPO headquarters, and the area needs to be disinfected for adoption of stricter health protocol.

The two new cases, a 45-year policeman from Barangay Papagueyan, Binmaley and a 24-year old policeman from Barangay Bacnar, San Carlos City, tested positive in their Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction test for frontliners on June 15.

The families of the two policemen, who are asymptomatic, were told to isolate themselves and remain quarantined.

The 45-year-old policeman, the only COVID-19 case registered so far in Binmaley, was found to have a history of travel in Quezon City where he may have contracted the virus while the 24-year old is the third policeman from San Carlos City to test positive for COVID-19.

Maranan said that while he suspects that most of the COVID-19 positive policemen might have been infected while manning checkpoints, the checkpoints will continue to be strictly guarded even during the Modified General Community Quarantine. (Leonardo Micua)
