JUST as the 27th COVID-19 patient was being released by the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan on May 6, a probable case was reported on the same day by the Mapandan’s local government.

Mayor Anthony Penullar of Mapandan said the Region 1 Medical Center informed him that the probable COVID-19 patient is a 55-year old from Barangay Pias who underwent Rapid Anti-Body Test on April 29 that turned out positive.

The patient underwent throat swab for a confirmatory test at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) using the RealTime -Polymerase Chain Reaction Test.

The mayor said that while the confirmatory test on the patient is being awaited, the Local Contact Tracing Team is already taking the necessary measures to ensure the safety of all residents of Mapandan.

He enjoined all residents to follow all the regulations promulgated by the Department of Health and Municipal Health Office particularly the wearing of face masks, observance of social distancing, frequent washing of hands and to stay home always. (Leonardo Micua)
