Pangasinan launches mass testing for Covid-19

MASS testing is finally ongoing in 13 towns and three cities that reported 39 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan targeting 4,000 persons that include persons being investigated and monitored and OFWs

This was reported by Dr. Anna de Guzman, provincial health officer, and confirmed that the mass testing is set for the towns of Rosales, Bayambang, Malasiqui, Basista Urbiztondo, Bugallon, Lingayen, Infanta, San Fabian, Pozorrubio, Binalonan, Sto. Tomas and Laoac and in the cities of Dagupan, Urdaneta and Alaminos.

The 16 towns and cities are considered as high-risk areas for COVID-19 in Pangasinan.

At presstime, testing has been completed in Bayambang, Malasiqui, Urbiztondo and Sto. Tomas.

Targeted for throat swab for the mass testing are Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) with mild symptoms, Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) with mild symptoms, Overseas Filipino Workers, and frontline workers manning checkpoints and Barangay Health Workers.

De Guzman said the mass testing, is using the RealTime Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTR-PCR) test kits.

Of the number 39 confirmed cases, 27 so far have recovered, three are still confined  and are being treated in hospital while nine have died.

The mass testing will be conducted until next week.

The PHO said the results of the mass testing will indicate whether there is a possibility on whether the number of COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan will still rise. (Leonardo Micua)
