OFW hit by 10-wheeler truck, dies

AN Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who could not report for work overseas due to Covid-19, met his untimely demise Thursday afternoon when he was ran over by a ten-wheeler truck.

P/Lt. Col. Joseph Fajardo, Calasiao chief of police, identified the victim as Christian Tolentino, a resident of Poblacion Sur in Sta. Barbara.

Police investigation, showed the victim was traversing the Sta. Barbara-Dagupan Road on his motorcycle and stopped near an intersection to give way to crossing vehicles when a speeding 10-wheeler close van truck hit him from behind.

Tumalsik siya dahil sa lakas ng pagkakabangga, sumalpok siya sa isang SUV na patawid, tapos nakaladkad pa ng parehong truck”, said Fajardo, describing the gruesome fate of the motorcycle rider.

His head was crushed, causing his instantaneous death, Fajardo added.

Meanwhile, the truck driver, a resident of Tarlac City, said that he was on his way to deliver loads of liquor to Dagupan City when his truck lost its brakes.Tolentino, a Dubai-based OFW, was set to return once the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine in Metro Manila is lifted.

The truck driver is currently under Calasiao PNP custody. (Ahikam Pasion)
