NETIZENS of Dagupan City were aghast on seeing the unkempt and unsanitary condition of the quarantine facility set by the Dagupan City government for returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to the city for their mandatory 14-day quarantine as reported by GMA7’s 24 Oras.

The TV report showed images of the toilets and bathrooms of the privately-owned former Arizona Inn in Barangay Boquig in their squalid and unhygienic conditions that the repatriated OFWs are expected to use.

Dagupan City Mayor Brian Lim had designated the former inn a quarantine facility to be manned by personnel of the City Health Office for Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs).

Despite some negative reactions to the dilapidated facilities from the number of PUMs that were quarantined earlier, the TV report cited the inaction of the city government in spite of announced arrival and scheduled mandatory quarantine of the returning OFWs before they can move in to their family homes.

Reacting to the GMA7 ‘24‘Oras’ report, netizen Zabrina posted: “Pls linisin nyo ang mga pasilidad para sa nag ka-quarantine. maawa po klayo sa kanila ligtas man sila sa covid pero mamamatay naman sila sa dumi ng facilities.”

Rexc Catubig wrote: “Sabi nong naka-quarantine baka don pa raw sila makakuha ng sakit.”

Another netizen, Ting, posted: “My kakulangan din ang namumuno dyan dapat may seminar pa sila or dapat ang kanilang mag asikaso dyan ung may knowledge sa housekeeping.”

It appeared to the netizens that the city government did not follow the standard set by the Department of Health. (Leonardo Micua)
