Gov. Espino to Pangasinenses: ‘Observe GCQ guidelines strictly’

Pangasinan Governor Amado I. Espino III reminded Pangasinenses to observe General Community Quarantine (GCQ) guidelines strictly as he stressed that “we are still fighting COVID-19”.
“Gusto ko po sanang iparating sa mga nakikinig, lalong-lalo na ang mga kababayan na hindi pa po tapos ang laban na ito,” said Governor Espino in an interview with a radio station.
Governor Espino commended Pangasinenses and said that the efforts of Pangasinenses in following the protocols have resulted to a slow increase of confirmed cases in the province.
“Narating natin yung ganito na name-maintain natin dahil sa pakikipag-tulungan at pakikipag-isa sa mga programa laban sa COVID-19. Maganda po ang management natin hinggil dito sa pandemic dahil sa ating pag-sunod at pakikiisa sa lahat ng bilin ng gobyerno,” Governor Espino stated.
However, Governor Espino reiterated that Pangasinenses should still continue the practices observed in enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period despite the easing up of restrictions under GCQ.
Governor Espino said, “Lagi akong nakikiusap na ang ating mga kababayan ay kasama sa proseso ng pag-iingat dahil hindi lamang ang mga national agencies, provincial government, LGUs at barangay ang magtatrabaho kung hindi tayong lahat dito sa probinsya.”
It can be noted that second wave of infection is possible if people will be too complacent and not abide by the rules set by the local government and national government agencies.
Governor Espino urged all Pangasinenses to cooperate with the directives of the LGUs while vaccine and cure for COVID-19 are not yet available.
“Mayroon pa ring mga hindi po pwedeng gawin ng ating mga kababayan. I-maintain natin ang social distancing, face mask, maghugas ng kamay, personal hygiene,” said Governor Espino.
The Provincial Government is also continuously conducting mass testing which prioritizes the testing of medical frontliners, law enforcers, mild Persons Under Investigation and High Risk Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) in the province.
The second batch of mass testing started today, May 20, in San Carlos City, with 160 specimen collected.
While the Provincial Government assures that we have enough resources to meet the basic needs of the people during the pandemic, Governor Espino fears that if the second wave of infection occurs, we may lack the manpower to fight COVID-19.
“Mabigat po ang ibinibigay nilang serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan at mayroon tayong ibang kababayan na kailangang bigyan ng serbisyong medikal,” said Governor Espino.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Government has extended its service as a part of the alternative work arrangement to assure that the quality of service will not be compromised despite the skeletal workforce scheme.
The Provincial Government will follow the six-day work schedule to accommodate all Pangasinenses who needs the assistance of the provincial government while maintaining minimum public health standards.
On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, the provincial government will accommodate those coming from Districts 1, 2 and 3 while the schedule of Districts 4, 5, and 6 fall on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. /Paula Jhea Sison
