A truck loaded with 200 bags of rice, was delivered by Fourth District Rep.  Christopher de Venecia to Dagupan for his second wave of assistance to the residents in the city who cannot return to work because of the existing Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine that has been extended to May 15.

His other constituents in Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto, and Manaoag can expect their second wave of rice assistance this week.

De Venecia said he has prepared 550 bags (50 kilograms each bag) for the second wave of rice assistance to his constituents during the extended ECQ.

In the first wave, he distributed a total of 1,000 bags of rice in the Fourth District.

Like in the first, he again used his personal funds to the purchase the bags of rice, boosted by 100 bags donated from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

He said congressmen have been visibly proactive in the fight against COVID-19 contagion after they passed Bayanihan to Heal as One Act that enabled President Duterte and the entire government to effectively respond to the health crisis.

The Special Amelioration Program (SAP), among others, is part of the Bayanihan Act.

De Venecia revealed that unlike local government units, congressmen have no funds to be used to undertake relief missions so he decided to use his personal funds to buy rice that is badly needed by his constituent while on quarantine in their respective homes.

He thanked PAGCOR for responding to his call to also help his constituents in the Fourth District. (Leonardo Micua)
