DAGUPAN City government’s urgent need for mass testing gets a boost from the

Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) by passing Resolution No. 5919 that authorizes Mayor Brian Lim to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with government-accredited and certified testing facilities, laboratories, diagnostic centers and organizations for COVID-19/SARS-COV-2 tests for the purpose.

The measure was adopted in response to the April 23, 2020 letter of Mayor Brian Lim requesting for such authority.

Stressing the need for widespread testing of the city’s constituents in order to tract, test, treat and contain those infected with COVID-19, the resolution cited the necessity for the city government to enter into an agreement with medical establishments to complement the testing already conducted on 500 residents by the City Health Office.

However, since confirmatory tests by the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center are needed for using the PRC-RT of the Department of Health, Dagupan should have its own testing center though the proposed tie-up with a medical institution in the city. (Leonardo Micua)
