4 UPOR intercepted at checkpoint

FOUR persons on board a Mitsubishi L-200 van on their way to Baliwag, Bulacan from Malasiqui town, were arrested by the police manning a quarantine checkpoint in Barangay Unzad, Villasis at about 7:30 am on April 29.

The four were identified as Nino De Guia, 43, driver of the van, of Makinabang, Baliwag; Benjamin de la Cruz, 35, of Barangay Pinagbarilan, Baliwag, both utility workers at the Office of the Baliwag municipal mayor; Emmanuel Bartocillo, 53; and Marianne Bartocillo, 30, a massage therapist, both of San Rafael Bulacan.

The van that traveled from Malasiqui was flagged down by the policemen after Emmanuel and Marianne Bartocillo who were stranded because of the lockdown, were picked up.

But failing to present any quarantine pass, the police considered the four Unauthorized Persons Outside of Residence (UPOR) and were brought to the Villasis Police Station.

Meanwhile, a driver of a closed van was arrested by the police in Barangay San Juan, San Manuel at about 1:30 p.m. on April 29 for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines.

The white Isuzu elf closed van without a plate number driven by Noli Oliveros, 35, of Barangay Cabacaraan, San Manuel was flagged down by the police manning the checkpoint.

During an inspection of the van, the police found five boxes containing 24 bottles of 2 x 2 Ginebra San Miguel and one bottle of 4 x 4 gin per box, which the suspect allegedly intended to sell to customers in other towns.
