2 new COVID-19 cases in Asingan bared

ALL eyes in Pangasinan are on Asingan town where two new COVID-19 patients surfaced after the last three remaining cases in Dagupan City recovered last May 15.

The two brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan to 41 with 30 recovered and nine died.

The two new patients include a 29-year-old male from Barangay Dupac who was confirmed to be positive for COVID-19 last May 13 after coming home from Manila where he was working.

A report said he was brought to Asingan by their company vehicle, that managed to pass through several checkpoints but was allowed through because he is considered an authorized person outside residence as an employee of a telecommunications company.

The other is a 15-year old female relative of the male patient was tested positive of coronavirus last May 18, said Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr.  The other members of the family tested negative.

Lopez said the girl may have been an example of local transmission of COVID-19.

The mayor placed Barangay Dupac in total lockdown, prevented anyone from entering and leaving the barangay at any time and ordered extensive disinfection in the barangay with the help of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Both patients were initially placed on strict home quarantine until May 19 when and the two were fetched by the Provincial Health Office and brought to the Provincial quarantine facility in San Carlos City.

Prior to this, Asingan already registered one COVID-19 case that recovered.
