Pangasinan Day, April 5, observed quietly

WITH the Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine (EECQ) in place, the 440th Agew na Pangasinan on April 5 was celebrated quietly and without fanfare.

The mood was a departure from the yearly joyous celebration of Agew na Pangasinan usually marked with fun-filled activities, including floats parade and agro-industrial fairs.

To mark the occasion, Governor Espino simply issued a statement on social media calling on all Pangasinenses “to appreciate the glory and greatness of our beloved province as well as the sacrifices of our ancestors.”

He asked Pangasinenses to unite, cooperate and make a sacrifice “so that we can win the fight against the virus (COVID-19) and asked all to stay home.

“Our own home is our most potent weapon in this fight. This fight will be won in our homes and we will surely win the battle for our beloved province,” he added and greeted all “Makabaliksan ya Agwew na Pangasinan.”

One of the few activities held a Live Online Concert on April 8 that featured Pangasinan’s local artist, John Pol Dimaculangan via a Watch Party.  (Leonardo Micua)
