DAR helps LGUs buy rice from local farmers

THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Pangasinan supports its beneficiaries in the present crisis by helping market their produce to the local government units (LGUs) who use the rice products for the relief packs distributed to barangays.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Ana B. Francisco said collective marketing under the LINKSFARMM project to benefit farmers was done for the food packs for distribution.

LINKSFARMM (Linking Small Farmers to Market and Microfinance) is a DAR project that linked with the Bayanihan Hundred Islands Agrarian Reform Cooperative (BHIARC) in Alaminos City and the Rang-ay Upland integrated Farmers Association Inc. in Dacap Norte, Bani town were the first to avail of the DAR intervention.

Other farm produce of vegetables and fruits of the farmers were also bought. (PIA/VHS)
