THE city of Dagupan has four confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of March 31, two of these are on self-imposed quarantine in their homes in Barangay Pogo Chico and the other two are being treated at the Region 1 Medical Center.

The Department of Health told Mayor Brian Lim that the four were former Patients Under Investigation (PUIs) and whose extent of infection were only confirmed by the Research Institute on Tropical Medicine (RITM).

Consequently, Lim ordered tighter restriction for entering and exiting Barangay Pogo Chico and assigned members of the Dagupan Police and the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) to keep a close watch on the village based on protocol established by DOH.

He said the city government will provide the food, water and other basic necessities to the residents of Barangay Pogo Chico.

Meanwhile, he said he doesn’t see the need to put the barangays of the two other patients on lockdown.

Contact tracing by the City Health Office and the DOH has been launched to find the people who the COVID-19 positive persons had close contacts with.

Lim finally placed the city under Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine on March 31 although President Duterte had announced it declared in towns and cities in Luzon on March 17. (Leonardo Micua)
