A SEVEN-year old girl from Barangay Inmalog Sur in San Fabian became the seventh fatality and the youngest COVID-19 victim in Pangasinan.

This was announced by San Fabian Mayor Constante Agbayani on social media as he directed to place Barangay Inmalog under Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine, restricting entry and exit of people to and from except for medical reasons.

The young girl was confined at the La Union Medical Hospital in Barangay Nazareno, Agoo, La Union on March 26 where she died on the same day.

The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) certified that the cause of her death was “Hypovolemic Shock” due to Acute Gastro-Enteritis and Severe Dehydration” with “Pediatric Community Acquired Pneumonia, T/C COVID-19” as the underlying cause.

Agbayani said the girl had no history of travel and may have acquired the corona virus from an uncle who came from Nueva Vizcaya and Manila, where he attended the wake of a person who died from COVID-19.

The mayor called on residents of San Fabian for calm and to follow all the rules being enforced by the DOH and the government.

The other COVID-19 fatalities of Pangasinan as of April 1 were from Rosales, Bayambang, Malasiqui, Urbiztondo, Basista and Lingayen. (Leonardo Micua)
