A POLICEMAN in Tayug was arrested in an entrapment operation for extorting cash from an applicant wanting to join the Philippine National Police.

P/Major Arnold Soriano, officer-in-charge at Tayug Police Station, said the suspect, P/ Exec. Master Sgt. Marlon Aguilar, 39 years old, a resident of Brgy. Camantiles, Urdaneta City, was arrested by elements of Pangasinan Police Intelligence Unit, Tayug police and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) Tuesday evening for asking P60,000 to P80,000 from the applicant.

The entrapment operation stemmed from the complaint of the applicant who said Aguilar was arrested after receiving ‘boodle’ money from the applicant.

Aguilar is currently detained at the Tayug police detention cell while counts of both criminal and administrative charges are being prepared against him.

“We will continue our internal cleansing. We need to clear our ranks of these people”, said Soriano. (Ahikam Pasion)
