Six arrested for resisting arrest, violation of ECQ rule

SIX persons were booked by the police in Pangasinan last week for resisting arrest and violating rules prescribed for Enhanced Community Quarantine ordered throughout Luzon by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The driver and conductor of a mini-bus marked “Margate” bound for Dagupan from Camiling, Tarlac were arrested after their bus was intercepted by the police on Solis Street in Lingayen mid-afternoon on March 17.

The driver, Jowell Budol, 43, of Barangay Talogtog, Mangatarem, and conductor, Mark Anthony Buncalan, of Barangay Ninoy, Aguilar, were arrested for transporting four passengers in spite of the ban on public transport.

Also arrested was Jayson Idos, 43, of Bued, Calasiao driver of Toyota Ace UV Express servicing the Dagupan-Alaminos route transporting passengers.

He was flagged down and arrested at a police checkpoint along the national highway in Barangay Domalandan West, Lingayen, also mid-afternoon on March 17.

Apprehended by the police in Poblacion, Malasiqui on March 18 were Roberto Geminiano, 53, Barangay, Alacan and Felipe Garcia, 55, both tricycle drivers, of Baragay Butao, in Malasiqui for conveying passengers.

Also arrested was Zaldy Bautista, 37, a public-school teacher, who was arrested for loitering while the police were implementing the lockdown in San Quintin.

He was reportedly disrespectful and arrogant when P/Cpl Dahreen Tembrena was explaining his violation in Barangay Casantamarian, San Quintin.

Bautista, a resident of Longos, San Fabian, was cited for violation of Provincial Executive Order No. 0013 and San Quintin Municipal Ordinance No. 56- S.2020.

All the drivers, conductors and tricycle riders were charged for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code before the Municipal Trial Courts in the towns where they were arrested. (Leonardo Micua)
