THE local government unit of Lingayen continues road clearing operations in major streets particularly access to the market area in accordance with the directive of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2020-027 February requiring LGUs to remove all types of roadblocks within 75 days.

Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil has since directed the barangay chairmen to comply with the DILG memorandum in coordination with the PNP Lingayen and the demolition team of the municipality to remove structures blocking the roads and sidewalks.

The demolition teams have since began dismantling stalls and other illegal structures blocking both sidewalks and pedestrian lanes while owners of illegally parked vehicles are warned regularly.

Market Supervisor Arnulfo Bernardo said teams were under instructions to explain the purpose of road clearing to affected individuals prior to the dry run.

Aside from the side walk vendors, obstructing signage including advertising materials, scaffoldings, were also removed. (Nora Dominguez)
