EFFORTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Pangasinan to focus on high-value targets (HVT) have already resulted in the arrests of 20 known HVTs, and seizure of half-kilogram of shabu and more than five kilograms of marijuana from January to February alone.

PDEA Pangasinan team leader Retchie Camacho said the market value of the seized illegal drugs is almost P6.8 million.

He said given the number of PDEA operatives in the province, his operations will have to focus on high-impact operations and capture high-value targets.

Recently, PDEA Pangasinan arrested the top drug personality provincial target named as Alvin and his companion Rex in a buy-bust operation on Feb.29 in Lingayen. (The real names of the suspects are being withheld for operational purposes).

“The suspect is known to operate all over the province, mostly in the Western part of the province, his transactions amounting to millions. He was imprisoned for three years for illegal drugs and was released early last year through plea bargaining, but we have monitored that he returned to his illegal activities with a broader scope,” Camacho said.

Their arrests led to seizure of 20 grams of shabu with a market value of P68,000.

Meanwhile, Camacho said local government units are also working on clearing their jurisdictions and expressed confidence that more cities and towns will soon be declared drug cleared in the coming months. (Helen Martin)
