Chan’s slay probe almost complete – PD Maranan

THE documentation and gathering of pieces of evidence on the broad-daylight killing of retired P/Brig. General Marlou Chan in Calasiao two months ago is almost complete.

This was bared by P/Col. Redrico Maranan, police provincial director, when asked on the status of the slaying of Chan, who once served as police provincial director in Pangasinan, during the Talakayan sa Kapitolyo at Urduja House on March 10.

We will wait for the assessment of all documents and evidence already gathered before the case for murder is finally filed against the suspects, said Maranan.

“Almost complete na ang ating imbestigation diyan. Ang pagsasampa na lang ng kaso ang ating hihintayin,” he continued.

He said the Special Investigation Task Force Chan he formed after the incident was elevated to the Regional Special Investigation Task Group headed by P/Col. Ismael Yu.

Maranan said investigators were looking into the alleged personal transactions of Chan when he was yet in the service as possible motive, Maranan did not elaborate further.

Chan was on board his vehicle heading to the east direction when unidentified men riding in tandem shot him. His driver was unscathed.

He was rushed by his driver to the Villaflor Memorial Hospital in Dagupan where he was declared dead on arrival. (Leonardo Micua)
