LINGAYEN Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil placed its Barangay Libsong West under Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine (EECQ) following the death of a Patient Under Investigation (PUI) from that village on March 25 at the Region1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan City.

Bataoil issued Executive Order No. 26 Series of 2020 on March 25 placing the entire Barangay Libsong West under EECQ from noon of March 25 until further notice pending the results of the confirmatory tests of the PUI that died.

Initial investigation showed the patient went to Metro Manila on March 14 then traveled back to Lingayen following day to attend a department heads meeting, but was unable to finish it due to not feeling well.

De Guzman said the patient refused to be admitted, even though he manifesting flu-like symptoms, such as coughing and fever.

Saka lang siya itinakbo nung nahirapan na siyang huminga”, said de Guzman.

The fatality was the second PUI to die at R1MC. The first was a 70-year-old balikbayan woman from Rosales town who died on March 17 before her confirmatory tests were made available. She was found positive with COVID-19.

Bataoil said his EO was the best response acting on the side of prudence and safety by limiting the movement of the residents in the barangay, particularly preventing entry to and exit from Barangay Libsong West.

In addition, residents of Libsong West are not allowed to leave their homes at any time except to buy food and medicine. (Leonardo Micua/Ahikam Pasion)
